Two weeks ago, I was at Impress Communications in Chatsworth, Calif., for a very special open house event. I was there as a guest speaker to talk about exciting ways to leverage print through an array of different techniques—including specialized finishes and press coatings on their custom-built Komori press, and laser-cutting and creasing on their new Highcon Euclid III. There was live music, a laser etching photo booth, great food, and big ideas. You can see a video of the evening’s highlights here.

While I was on-site preparing for the event, I jumped at the opportunity to take a tour of their facility, as these days I’m always on the beat looking for a great story to share with everyone. When we hit the bindery, I was excited to see a Bobst EXPERTFOLD folder-gluer with an ACCUCHECK quality control inspection system. They nicknamed the system “Picture-Perfect” due to its imaging ability at blistering speeds. At the time I was there, the machine was running a packaging job next to two other Bobst folder-gluer lines.
