IPEX To Raise Curtain on Notable Advances in Digital Print

With IPEX coming soon (

Tuesday, January 31, 2006

With IPEX coming soon (April 4-11), we are now hearing more of what will be shown at the event. In this article I would like to look at a few of the recent announcements within the digital press printing space.

At IPEX we shall start to see the challenge to xerographic (dry and liquid toner) presses coming from new ink jet presses. Up to now the only ink jet devices that have been available have been the very high-speed Kodak Versamark units, and the Riso HC 5000 at the lower end of the market. Both of these produce a lower level of quality than that available from the xerographic units. At IPEX we can expect to see the first of the new generation of ink jet units that will open up the digital print market. In making this comment I acknowledge that there are many examples of ink jet being used for higher quality printing than the devices mentioned, such as the Agfa Dotrix, however this is aimed at specialist niche industrial printing applications.

IPEX – A New Approach for Trade Shows

Ipex 2014, which moved from Birmingham to London, was anticipated to be the key event for availability of the raft of new digital presses announced at drupa 2012.
