Cost-effective label self-adhesive material for standard applications

• The new Essential Line offers label printers greater cost-efficiency for price-sensitive standard applications.
• The self-adhesive materials focus on the properties relevant to the application, without features that are not required.
• Tried-and-tested HERMA components, high availability and short lead times ensure both quality and cost-effectiveness.

Label printers are increasingly facing extreme pressure on price and efficiency, especially standard applications. To give them greater cost-effectiveness for particularly price-sensitive projects, HERMA has expanded its product portfolio of self-adhesive materials to include the new Essential Line. It offers various label self-adhesive materials made from paper and film for common label applications such as food packaging, cosmetic products, shipping cartons and much more. These self-adhesive materials focus on core properties avoiding additional functions that are not relevant to the respective application. “In many cases it is sufficient for a self-adhesive material to have good properties for flexographic printing without also needing to be suitable for UV inkjet. Nor does the level of opacity in paper labels always need to be the highest possible. Without features not required in the application, the Essential line becomes a compelling economic proposition, particularly for highly price-sensitive projects,” explains Hendrik Kehl, Product Manager at HERMA. “Crucially, the products in the Essential Line continue to be characterized by HERMA’s renowned quality in terms of reliability, processing and service.” That is why the self-adhesive materials in the Essential Line provide the same proven standard adhesives and backing materials as those familiar from the HERMA portfolio. They are manufactured and finished on the same high-tech production lines. “The personalised customer advice and support for which HERMA is highly regarded in the market is also fully guaranteed.”

Extensive launch range
At its launch, the Essential Line already comprises several standard label materials. In the high-volume thermal sector for applications such as variable data printing for food labelling, these include HERMAtherm top el (type 922), HERMAtherm eco el (901) and HERMAtherm PP el (827). HERMA white el (602) will soon be available for a wide range of paper-based label applications, e.g. logistics and dispatch. In the film sector, HERMA PP white el (887) will shortly cover numerous standard applications. The designation ‘el’ indicates that each product belongs to the Essential Line. “Our aim is to expand the Essential Line step by step and to offer label printers a cost-effective alternative for all key standard applications,” says Hendrik Kehl.

A further advantage of the Essential Line is that it is supplied in net width for 4,000 linear metres rolls, offering a cost-effective solution for even small label runs. High availability combined with short delivery times further enhance the appeal of the Essential Line for standard applications.
