Gallus’ Flexible and Expandable Ecosystem for Future Growth

Gallus has just introduced their new System to Compose platform. It is designed with their vision of complete flexibility to manage both the specific and constantly changing packaging requirements of brands and converters.

In 1950, they introduced the first Gallus flexographic self-adhesive label press at the graphics trade fair in Chicago. In 2014, after previously acquiring a percentage of the company, Heidelberg fully acquired Gallus making it a Heidelberg company. The company is now embarking on its next 100 years with a new vision and corresponding expandable and configurable ecosystem. This relationship with Heidelberg provides a central role in Heidelberg’s long term vision of an expanded role in packaging.

Gallus just introduced their new System to Compose platform. It is designed with their vision of complete flexibility to manage both the specific and constantly changing packaging requirements of brands and converters.

With the new platform, Gallus offers a menu of compatible and configurable base solutions around speed and width for print and converting that can be combined with optional modules, almost like LEGO, to build a tailored production solution.

Labels and the Connected Supply Chain

Labels and the Connected Supply Chain

You can think of this very competitive connected supply chain landscape in four layers: material suppliers, label converters/printers, hardware OEMs, and software/platform players. Print is a very adaptive technology and direct-to-object (DTO) is another area where it can offer new opportunities for PSPs and product manufacturers. Today, most of the product and packaging decoration (i.e., labels and tags) that exists is handled by a label converter. It is a well-established process that probably won’t disappear. However, it can and will be challenged by inline DTO printing solutions, offering new opportunities. Read More
