Boarman Nomination Heads to Full Senate

WhatTheyThink was notified yesterday by the Senate Rules Committee that: "The Senate Rules and Administration Committee voted to discharge the nomination of William J. Boarman out of committee. It will now go to a vote on the Senate floor."
It will be interesting to watch what happens in the Senate, and whether politics trumps any concerns about the outcome of the Inspector General's investigation as reported by WhatTheyThink and in the Washington Post. It would seem to be preferable to conclude the investigation prior to a vote so that Mr. Boarman can enter the position of U.S. Public Printer without the shadow of a potential ethics violation hanging over him. However, Washington being what it is, one imagines that politics will trump ethics concerns ...
