Regarding embellishments- You got that right Frank!
The effects Scodix (and others) now boast in the digital workflow are significant. Graphic designers can now economically add value to marketing collateral with the special effects Scodix and similar devices offer. Our online DaVinci Designer by OpenSoft was built to specifically enable a designer to select these effects and view them 3D. That is exactly why we had a demo kiosk in the Scodix booth at drupa. Textures, spot varnishes and folds are able to be proofed at the design stages rather than mocked-up versions. You have articulated exactly what we anticipated the trend in printing to be. Hopefully you had a chance to see DaVinci Designer in action.
