Xerox to Close Impika Site in Aubagne France

By WhatTheyThink

WhatTheyThink has learned that Xerox will close its inkjet center in Aubagne, France, that came over with its acquisition of Impika in 2013. Xerox has not issued a press release about it's plans but did issue a statement:

We are committed to our broad inkjet portfolio and are investing in production inkjet innovation to introduce new industry-leading capabilities such as the Baltoro(tm) HF Inkjet Press. We are closing the Aubagne site at the end of the year and will centralise inkjet manufacturing within existing Xerox sites. We have a robust transition plan in place to ensure business continuity.

The Impika center has been focused on systems integration for the Xerox line of continuous feed production inkjet devices.

Xerox develops its own inkjet heads and ink at its Wilsonville, Ore., R&D center. Xerox uses inkjet technology developed in Wilsonville for its next-generation Baltoro production inkjet platform.

In a recent interview with WhatTheyThink, the company signaled that the Baltoro production inkjet platform was key focus for the production business.
