Software Shelf: Cutting Printing Costs for Corporate America

Press release from the issuing company

CLEARWATER, Fla.-April 10, 2002--Software Shelf International, Inc. announced the release of the Enterprise Print Management Initiative for Microsoft Operating Systems at Tech Ed, New Orleans. The new initiative includes award winning Print Manager Plus and Print Queue Manager, a suite of products offering auditing and remote administration capabilities that reduces cost of printing in the corporate, government, and education markets. The newest version of Print Manager Plus, recently passing stress testing limits of over 900 print jobs a minute to one print server, is one of the most functional and powerful enterprise tools allowing the administrator to audit, report, and/or quota printing. Reports can be printed or exported to most accounting databases or billing systems. New Print Manager Plus supports SQL, Access, and ODBC compliant databases. The additional Print Queue Manager service allows redirection of print jobs, broadcast printing, load balancing, and notification of the specific status of each printer while remote controlling them. Dataquest figures show the average cost of producing documents (paper, hardware, ink) is equivalent to 40% of a company's labor cost. Gartner calculates the cost of acquiring a printer is only 20% of the total cost involved. 70% of companies are unaware of their printing costs because they don't have a means to effectively audit or even control these costs. Software Shelf print management customers include Yale University, University of California, New York University, CNN, NASA, Microsoft, and others. The suite is licensed per print server. One license is $1,400.00. Prices are discounted for schools or government. Also, each product may be licensed separately.
