Our latest solutions for the packaging market help customers achieve their goals in shelf standout, sustainability, lightweighting, extended shelf life, compliance, color consistency, anti-counterfeiting and more. We look forward to showing how our packaging solutions can bring real value for our customers during PACK EXPO.”

New UV Ink Systems for Food Packaging & Luxury Folding Carton Applications
Visitors of booth #8856 will learn about Sun Chemical’s SunCure® Accuflex UV, a new UV ink system for primary and secondary food packaging that is not manufactured with Bisphenol A (BPA)-based materials and meets low migration specifications. Compliant with the strictest global standards in the marketplace, SunCure Accuflex UV flexo inks meet the latest photoinitiator safe packaging guidelines and provide low odor and very low residual extractables characteristics, while maintaining the highest standards of pressroom performance.

Also on display will be SunCure® Aspire UV, a new UV offset ink system developed to make sophisticated graphics look vibrant on high-end luxury folding cartons while at the same time providing the longer-term shelf appeal brand owners require. Formulated to exhibit immense color transparency to create vivid graphic effects on metallized, lenticular and holographic board stocks, SunCure® Aspire UV is perfect for pharmaceutical, perfume, liquor, cosmetic and POP applications.

Sun Chemical’s newest UV and EB inks will be the focus of a presentation given by Jim Bishop, Field Marketing Manager, entitled “Simplifying the Use of Inks and Coatings for Safe Packaging Applications.” The presentation will take place Tuesday, October 16th at 11 a.m. at the show’s Innovation Stage.

Sustainable, Renewable and Compostable Eco-Friendly Inks and Coatings
Sun Chemical will highlight a new portfolio of eco-friendly inks and coatings that are formulated with significantly higher levels of bio-renewable resin content compared to other previous market offerings. One of these inks, SunSpectro® SolvaGreen flexographic and gravure solvent-based inks, feature naturally derived resins and additives and are meant for surface printing on biodegradable films.

SunVisto® AquaGreen water-based inks are formulated with high levels of bio-renewable sourced resins and deliver the required critical performance attributes needed across a range of paper packaging applications.

Coatings that Make Packaging Pop, Enable Lightweighting and Extended Shelf Life
Sun Chemical will feature its catalog of creative solutions aimed at helping brand owners give their packaging the wow factor. SunInspire™ specialty inks and coatings, for example, can add visual magic, from metallic inks to fluorescents and phosphorescents, glitter effects, pearlescents, and frosted effects. SunInspire tactile coatings, ranging from coarse and gritty to soft and smooth, appeal to the sense of touch. Sun Chemical’s award-winning “Innovation Guide” which features these coatings, will be on display.

Sun Chemical will also highlight its SunBar® (Aerobloc) oxygen barrier coatings. In addition to extending product shelf life, SunBar (Aerobloc) barrier coatings enable the lightweighting of packaging by removing polymer layers from packaging, as well as offering improved laminate flexibility. SunBar (Aerobloc) coatings are cost-effective, compostable, and press-ready, allowing for lighter-weight packaging, a reduced carbon footprint, and easy application with few changes to current equipment. Through its partnership with acpo, ltd., SunBar (Aerobloc) pre-coated films are readily available for converters.

Tapping into a Global Digital Color Management Workflow for Color Consistency
Booth visitors can learn how Sun Chemical can help converters achieve global consistency of high impact and high-quality color. The solution, called SunColorBox, is a ‘toolkit’ that comprises a comprehensive set of applications and services aimed at supporting converters to produce consistent brand colors, anywhere in the world, within a fully integrated and optimized digital process, from design to press. A part of the SunColorBox toolkit, myColorCloud is a cloud-based solution that utilizes the PantoneLIVE infrastructure to manage converters’ private databases of spot colors and make them available digitally throughout the supply chain and production cycle. Multiple covert taggant-reader systems, special effect inks and smart sensor technology will also be on display.

Organic UV Screen Inks Offer Unique Options for Glass Decorating
