Robert Pitman Schmidt, Long Time Pitman Executive Passes Away

Bob Schmidt passed away on Sunday, December 3rd at his home in Rumson, New Jersey. Bob had more than 20 years experience in various management positions with the Pitman Company in Totowa, NJ, serving most recently as President and Chief Operations Officer as well as member of the board of directors. He was a graduate of Ripon College, Ripon, Wisc., with a BA in History. Born in Chicago, he lived in Pompton Plains, NJ before moving to Rumson, NJ five years ago. Bob served on the board of directors of the International Prepress Association. He also was a member of the National Association of Printers and Lithographers, Print/NJ, the Association of Graphic Arts, Printing Industries of America, Young Printing Executive's Club and North American Graphic Arts Suppliers Association. In 1993, he served as co-chairman of NAGASA's Annual Meeting. Surviving are Margaret, his wife of 17 years; sons, Charles Schmidt and Thomas Harrington; daughters, Jennifer Harrington and Anne Schmidt; his parents, Paul Frank Schmidt and Mrs. Katherine Schmidt; a brother, Peter, and sisters, Mrs. Judith Dotson and Mrs. Deborah Casanova. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, December 7th in the Shore Casino, Atlantic Highlands. Arrangements are by the Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. An Additional Memorial Service will be held on: Saturday, December 9th at 10:30am Bethel United Methodist Church, 262-742-3507.
