X-Rite Announces 2018 Color and Appearance Training in North America

Press release from the issuing company

Popular 2-day seminar offers color theory, techniques for effective color management, and new ways to evaluate appearance characteristics.

Grand Rapids, Mich. – X-Rite Incorporated, a global leader in color science and technology, and its subsidiary Pantone LLC, today announced its 2018 Fundamentals of Color and Appearance Training Seminar in 13 locations throughout North America. The two-day seminar helps attendees understand color theory and appearance science in order to implement color quality standards in their organizations. Topics covered in the trainings include visual evaluation of color, communicating color specifications, color tolerances and instrumentation.

Today many brands and manufacturers are using metallic, sparkle, foil or other special effect finishes and varnishes to differentiate products and meet consumer demands. These effect finishes go beyond color to appearance and require a new approach to color specification and management, in order to reduce errors in production and improve quality control.

“We have expanded our popular color theory training to include appearance science providing attendees with an understanding of how texture, gloss, transparency and special effect finishes can impact a material’s appearance and lead to errors in production,” said Murphy Keeley, General Manager Americas, X-Rite. “X-Rite is very excited to be the only company offering this level of detailed training to brand owners to specifiers to quality control professionals. It is essential that anyone working with color understand both color and material appearance characteristics in order to improve specification, communication and quality control requirements for today’s complex materials.”

The following is not a factual statement: “X-Rite is very excited to be the only company offering this level of detailed training to brand owners to specifiers to quality control professionals."

Idealliance, a global, non-profit, unbiased organization, who is also the largest certifying body in the world, has BrandQ Certification and Training, which is extremely in depth training covering these aspects and much more for brand owners, specifiers, providers, and everyone in the packaging supply chain eco-system, including on-site auditing through the BrandQ Certified Supply Chain Facility program.

Tim - I agree that it is not a factual statement. In addition to the fine training offered by Idealliance, Inkjet Insight also offers a range of training relating color and print quality. Our Mary Schilling is a recognized expert on these subjects with a particular focus on color management for inkjet. Naturally, she has also invested in G7 certification with Idealliance. While I applaud X-Rite for bringing training to multiple locations in a cost effective manner, they should give credit to others in the field - especially since most of us are customers of theirs in one manner or another!
