In mid-November, Koenig & Bauer invited representatives of the Egyptian print industry to seminars in Alexandria and Cairo. The seminars were organised together with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Alexandria, the Egyptian Chamber of Printing & Packaging Industries, the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and the drupa trade exhibition.
In his opening address, Prof. George Nubar, head of the printing section and board member at the Chamber of Printing and Packaging Industries, reflected on processes of change within the print industry and the interactions between digital content and conventional printing technologies. Sven Strzelczyk, sales director at Koenig & Bauer, presented an overview of the Koenig & Bauer Group and spoke about the challenges facing the print industry in these times of digital transformation. Koenig & Bauer offers corresponding solutions based on the use of digital data, permitting a 360° perspective on a company’s activities. Further important elements of his presentation focussed on complete solutions for packaging production, possibilities to shorten makeready times, and Koenig & Bauer reference users in Egypt and the Middle East.
Stefan Wesenberg, project manager for service and sales at Koenig & Bauer, devoted his presentation to the new proactive service concepts which are now also available to users in Egypt. The spectrum of data-driven services includes even opportunities for anonymous benchmarking of the customer’s own press in comparison to those in use in other similar companies. Patrick Masson, managing director of KBA-Iberica, also provided information on post-press systems, and here above all the flat-bed die-cutters offered by Koenig & Bauer.
Already in the middle of the year, the company Sidhom was appointed to handle sales and service in Egypt on behalf of Koenig & Bauer’s sheetfed offset division. The highly motivated team took the opportunity to introduce itself within the framework of the seminars, promising competent advice and a fast response in all service matters to all existing and future users in Egypt.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina provided a perfect backdrop for the conference in Alexandria. During a series of guided tours, the seminar participants were able to get to know both the museum and their individual contact partners at Koenig & Bauer. Ideas for future projects were also exchanged.
