ON DEMAND 2002 Managers Say They Have Strong Attendance Numbers

Digital Printing and Publishing Strategy Conference & Exposition-April 23-25, New York City NEW YORK--April 24, 2002--Jacob Javits Center, Advanstar Communications and CAP Ventures, Inc. today announced that the ON DEMAND 2002 Strategy Conference and Exposition opened its doors with three keynote speakers, attracting thousands of print for profit, corporate and government professionals, and over 150 exhibitors. ON DEMAND, the worlds' largest event for digital solutions in printing and publishing, runs through April 25 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City. "The printing industry considers ON DEMAND a `hot' event, one you have to attend," said Cory Funk, Japs-Olson Company. "The synergy between the users and suppliers is evident from the amount of quality traffic generated on the show floor. The momentum that this event provides thrives off the packed halls of the Javits Center." Starting the morning off to an enthusiastic audience, Charlie Pesko, managing director of CAP Ventures, discussed "Content on Demand: Reinventing the Printing and Publishing Industry." In this keynote, Pesko outlined a new framework for growth and revolutionary change in the printing and publishing industry. This annual industry update delineated the requirements for a new industry focus, and explained the role that Printing On Demand (POD) plays in generating value for the graphic arts business and its customers. In a joint effort, William P. McGlynn, vice president and general manager of digital publishing solutions, Hewlett-Packard Company, and Benny Landa, founder, chairman and CEO of Indigo, spoke on the topic of "Transforming the Printing Industry." The final keynote of the day featured George Cacioppo, vice president of Internet printing business unit at Adobe Systems, Inc., discussing, "The Future of Print: The Next Wave of Cross-Media Publishing." Both keynote sessions were well attended by crowds of information-hungry, printing and publishing professionals. Following the first two keynotes, the exhibit hall opened where attendees flooded the show floor to explore the exciting, turn-key technologies and solutions of vendors such as Canon, Hammermill, Heidelberg, Ikon, Indigo, Konica, Oce, Ricoh, Xeikon, and Xerox. Over the next two days, CAP Ventures offers visitors a chance to sit in on over 60 conference sessions from the Business Communications Conference and the Print Service Providers Conference. Also, on Wednesday, April 24, attendees can participate in the 1:1 Marketing Forum that focuses on case studies and examples of successful 1:1 print and Web B2B and B2C applications.
