Autologic Announces Software Upgrades

Output Manager, Plateroom Manager and Ad Manager Get New Features Orlando, FL (NEXPO Booth #1901) – June 22, 2002 – Autologic, an Agfa company, has announced that several upgrades are now available for its popular Output Manager, Plateroom Manager and Ad Manager software. Output Manager is Autologic’s automated workflow management tool that provides custom, job-based processing and offers user-definable queues, allowing output to be organized and automatically scheduled. It also provides a visual status interface that gives status anywhere on the network. Output Manager maximizes resources by efficiently organizing, prioritizing and routing pages to multiple RIPs and imagesetters at local and remote sites. The upgrade version of Output Manager features an enhanced browser user interface and load balancing. It also accepts feedback from NewsDrive, the next-generation interface to Agfa’s Polaris family of CtP platesetters. Plateroom Manager, the popular goal-based workflow program, has been upgraded to version 2.6. The upgrade of Plateroom Manager now includes PagePair, which automates the placing of pages side by side on film or CtP recorders, as a feature. Plateroom Manager manages and tracks pages from the front-end through to the press. It tracks output between multiple sites, manages output to multiple platesetters and multiple presses and allows for on-the-fly changes to be made during production. "This new version of our premier workflow program is sure to make any pressroom more efficient," said Jeff Cord, Autologic Product Manager, Workflow. "When looking to boost productivity, it is important to not only consider the hardware, but the software as well, and the new Plateroom Manager can help pressrooms do just that," Cord added. The new version of Plateroom Manager also features: - Integrated Browser User Interface - Native 4-up and 8-up - Design Tracking and assembly of 4-up and 8-up - Native TIFF and PDF file format handling with ability to impose and output these formats directly. Also released was the latest version of the Ad Manager V, a complete ad production and tracking system that lets newspapers build and manage the creation of display ads. Ad Manager V includes tools to automate the process while eliminating manual production steps. The newest release – version 5.01 – builds upon the very successful Ad Manager V and twenty years of experience in ad management systems. Responding to feedback from Ad Manager users, the new version has a number of new features to enhance newspapers’ display ad building operations, including: - Near-Line archiving of ads with retrieval by ad builders - provides the capability to manage both live and archive ads; eliminates system administration personnel having to get involved with restoring of the archived ads. - Font inclusion when completed ads are delivered to pagination systems - automated process to make sure the fonts are correct when the ad is output. - Web Proofing Workflow - Automating the delivery of proof ads to advertisers and internal sales staff using Internet browsers. - PDF input and output of display ads at the server - Provides fast creation and handling of PDF display ads. Ad Manager 5.01 is currently available.
