McNeil Printing Launches New Business Approach after Installing the Océ Arizona 6170 UV Flatbed Printer

Press release from the issuing company

Wide format leader also adds an Océ ProCut flatbed cutter to its arsenal

MELVILLE, N.Y. - Canon Solutions America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A., Inc., today announced that McNeil Printing, a Utah Valley-based print service provider has installed the recently launched Océ Arizona 6170 XTS UV flatbed printer. Helping to streamline workflow and expand its portfolio of wide format offerings, McNeil Printing additionally acquired an Océ ProCut flatbed cutter poised to provide significant depth to the company's expansive print fleet.

Founded in 1990, McNeil Printing began as a small fulfillment and packaging center where most jobs involved shrink-wrapping and kit building. Over time, the print leader expanded its services to include commercial printing and binding services, which led to a steady rise and reputation as one of Utah Valley's premier printing companies. With a dynamic suite of services and offerings, coupled with state-of-the-art technology, McNeil Printing has grown to specialize in full-service offset and digital printing, as well as sign and display graphics.

Understanding the value of engaging in the rapidly evolving landscape of large format printing, McNeil Printing recently sought new technology that could help solidify its position as an authority in the space. As the search for both a cutting-edge and dynamic large format solution progressed, McNeil Printing was introduced to advanced flatbed technology by Canon Solutions America. Shortly thereafter, McNeil Printing's team of industry professionals recognized that not only was flatbed the answer, but it could become an integral part of its growth strategy.

"With our acquisition of the Océ Arizona 6170 flatbed printer, we expected a significant decrease in production costs, but we were surprised by how quickly we can finish jobs for our customers. We are now able to offer faster turn around times for our clients and maintain increased production without hiring additional staff members," said Tyler McNeil, general manager of McNeil Printing for the last 17 years. "Because of the efficiency of this flatbed technology, McNeil Printing's wide format volume has already doubled – and we look for that number to grow even more over the next few months."

Designed for versatile, higher volume production of high quality large format display graphics printing onto rigid substrates, the Océ Arizona 6100 Series – comprised of the 6160 XTS and 6170 XTS systems – delivers exceptional image quality while providing a myriad of opportunities to increase wide format revenue. The award-winning technology is perhaps most beneficial in its ability to give users a variety of digital print applications that directly impacts and boosts display graphics productivity.

"The amount of work we've produced, along with the dramatic savings we continue to see compared to outsourcing, really sets the Océ Arizona technology apart as we progress in our transition to a large format-based company," added McNeil. "From the creativity it sparks throughout our organization to the capability of printing directly on wood or vinyl, our newest print applications have allowed us to offer a more robust and unique wide format solution to our existing customer-base while also reaching new clients."

Accompanying the Océ Arizona 6170 at McNeil Printing is the Océ ProCut flatbed cutter, which was designed to support a variety of tools allowing users to cut a wide range of rigid and roll based media. Since working with the Océ ProCut, McNeil Printing significantly reduced its turnaround time on cut and print jobs, while adding an entirely new dimension to its arsenal of solutions that will help further solidify the company's reputation as an innovative wide format leader.

"Without question, McNeil Printing is capable of handling cross platform projects like never before thanks to the technology introduced to us by Canon Solutions America," confirmed McNeil.

"Flatbed technologies are paving the way for a new generation of display graphics that will continue to transform this industry," said Sal Sheikh, vice president, Marketing, Large Format Solutions, Canon Solutions America. "This growth is spurred by customers like McNeil Printing, whose tireless pursuit to expand their offerings and develop novel display graphics applications, helps us develop the future of the large format industry."
