Guangzhou China’s Dreamworks Fuses Decades of Printing Experience with Scodix Sophistication to deliver..."Art"!

Wednesday, September 21, 2016

Press release from the issuing company

GUANGZHOU, China - Scodix, the leading provider of digital enhancement solutions for the graphic arts industry, today has systems in every corner of the world. Meet Mr. Chen… General Manager for Dreamworks Graphic Arts Technology Co., Ltd., located in Guangzhou, the capital and largest city of the Guangdong province in southeast China (the third largest city in China after Beijing and Shanghai). Ask Mr. Chen to describe his company, and he simply states, “Being professional enables us to realize our dreams.” Ask him how he sees his company in the marketplace, and he responds, “As a lighthouse in an old industry.”

While Mr. Chen’s business ideals are built on tried and true foundations of many past experiences, his dedication to innovation are anything but. “We aim to cement traditional business ethics and values to the latest and greatest technological tools in search of delivering finished projects that transcend basic expectations,” he points out. “In other words, in everything we do, we strive to transform standard printed projects into distinguishable artwork for our clients.”

Dreamwork’s clients (commercial printers, advertising agencies, and photography studios) are constantly reaping the benefits of the company’s strive for “better”. From design, to digital printing to digital enhancement, large or small, they know that Dreamwork’s experienced teams are always equipped with the old values of commitment and the newest production science to make any project shine.

Innovators Are Always First

Dreamworks is constantly in search of that differentiating technology. To this end, in November 2014 the company installed the first Scodix Ultra digital enhancement press in the history of the Chinese printing community. “The competition in the local printing industry has always been fierce. In China, millions of printers of different scales are competing on price. Homogeneous printing products without high-tech content have flooded the market, leaving very small profit-margin for anyone.” Add to this the declining demand for traditional print products in an era of digital media.

A Differentiated Business Advantage

Instead of struggling hard in a price war to survive in a cutthroat business, Dreamworks realized the answer was shaped in the form of new technologies and creative solutions that emphasized value-added goods and services. Striving to offer something special to the customer, while at the same time establish a distinguished advantage in the market, Dreamworks discovered Scodix.

The result of our investment in Scodix is clearly evident in our day-to-day business. First, Scodix has provided us a completely new platform to work with other printers. Instead of engaging in the price war, Dreamworks is acting as a production partner, producing digital finishing enhancements for many previous competitive printers. Some printers even wanted to become our exclusive partner after they got very positive feedbacks from their clients. Second, we are continuing to strengthen our B2B business model and have become a key influencer of the local printing market, in many new ways. For example, we are setting the standard for quality and capability expectations.

And third, more and more, Dreamworks is capturing business exclusively. No one else can offer what we can. Recently, we used Scodix to enhance the cover of a fashion magazine. The cover was a photo of a model wearing a designer jacket. We laminated the paper and then added Scodix SENSE. It became very tactile and the metallic effect was incredibly stunning. The zipper of the jacket simply popped off the page. The client was not only pleased, but stunned by the clarity and impact of the enhancement. It took the project to a whole new level… I call it Art!

To be a lighthouse you have to shine. At the very beginning, we needed to learn about the design, and tested many different variables, choice-options, and design elements. With more experience, it became easier for us. As the innovators in a new space, it also took us a few months to educate the market to how special and distinguishable our Scodix services could be. Today, we create new designs very quickly and this expertise has established us with few peers. Our samples alone practically bring in new clients by themselves.”
