The New Onset X Series Recognized as Industry Best by European Digital Press Association

Press release from the issuing company

‘Best of’ wide format flatbed/hybrid press

Hanover Park, Ill. – FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Graphic Systems Division, the exclusive North American distributor of the Inca Onset X Series of high productivity UV flatbed presses, acknowledges an award from the European Digital Press (EDP) Association, recognizing the best technology and developments in print production. The award was presented to Inca Digital Printers, Limited, based in Cambridge, UK, at a special presentation at drupa 2016, in Dusseldorf, Germany. The Onset X Series was recognized as the best wide format/hybrid press in the greater than 250 m2 per hour category.

Within the Onset X Series, the X3, capable of printing over 9,688 ft2 per hour, equivalent to 900 m2 per hour (180 beds/hour), features 3 x CMYK ink channels plus the choice of White to add even greater capability to print specialty applications, or Orange to expand the color gamut to match a wider range of Pantone colors.  The Onset X3 also features FUJIFILM Dimatix Q Class 14-picolitre printheads, and Fujifilm Uvijet UV inks for production of exceptional quality on a wide range of substrates. The Onset X3 sits at the pinnacle of productivity, and every Onset X Series press includes a 25-zone vacuum table to eliminate the need for bed masking greatly reducing set-up times and optimizing productivity.

Incorporating Inca’s pioneering ‘Scalable Architecture’ concept, each Onset X Series press is based on a new common scalable architecture platform that can be upgraded on-site when additional capacity or capability is needed. This provides the flexibility to configure the Onset X printer for the combination of productivity, color and quality that best matches a customers’ need today with the ability to upgrade later when production requirements change. With this printer, users of analog screen printing lines can take the digital route, confident they can print long runs of high-quality print with superb consistency and reliability.

The Onset X Series is designed to remove the traditional compromise of quality and productivity and make the choice of printer the easiest decision they have to make,” said John Mills, CEO, Inca Digital. “The X Series combines an easy-to-understand upgrade path with a comprehensive choice of options, so that, whatever stage the business is at, management can configure or re-configure an Onset X printer with the right productivity and color performance to match their budget and evolving business needs."

The Onset X series starts with the LT model, which allows printers to produce Onset quality at an entry-level price. With an easy upgrade path to Onset X1 and beyond, the Onset X-LT is available in 4-color, 6-color, or 4-color plus White. Producing 2,852 ft2 per hour (40 beds/hour), Onset X-LT allows print providers to build their demand and scale as they grow.

The Onset X1, producing 5,906 ft2 per hour (112 beds/hour) features eight active channels, with four channels printing CMYK, and the remaining channels configured as needed using a combination of Light magenta, Light cyan, White, and Orange (Lm, Lc, W, O).

With a second set of CMYK, the Onset X2 delivers even higher productivity — 7,804 ft2 per hour (145 beds/hr) — while an optional six channels can be populated to add versatility.

“The Onset X Series is a real game-changer for our current and prospective customers in the Americas,” adds Todd Zimmerman, Division President, FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Graphic Systems Division, and Corporate Vice President, FUJIFILM Global Graphic Systems.  “The quality, speed, and productivity of the Onset X Series enables display graphic printers to respond to print buyer demands for fast turnaround and the competitive edge to win more business.”

The EDP Association

The EDP Association was founded in 2006 by six trade magazines with main editorial focus on digital print and production. Now, the EDP Association counts 20 member magazines all over Europe, covering 26 countries and reaching more than half a million of readers in Europe. Since 2007, EDP has evaluated and honored the best new developments in print production tools, software developments, substrates, inks, materials and finishing systems. Over the years more than 230 trophies have been awarded to the best technologies and developments.

Members of EDP’s Technical Committee investigate the products´ features and qualities – by consulting other experts as well. At the end of the submission period, the Technical Committee nominates the best products in a category for the final judging round. In a special EDP General Assembly, representatives of all the member magazines discussed the quality again – also under aspects such as value to the user, support and service and other arguments.

“It’s truly an honor to be a recipient of the ‘Best of’ award from EDP,” adds Mills. “It’s a testament to Inca Digital and Fujifilm’s dedicated efforts in technological advancements within our digital industry.”
