Colter & Peterson Microsystems to exhibit automated control systems and CHM precision sheeter at drupa

Tuesday, May 24, 2016

Press release from the issuing company

Paterson, NJ – Drupa 2016 is often described as the Olympics of the graphic arts industry, a massive, multi-day event that requires days to walk and see everything on display. Colter & Peterson Microsystems will save visitors time looking for best-in-class and truly affordable backend equipment. In Hall 11/Stand E25, the company will exhibit their current lineup of highly productive Microcut® control systems, and will demonstrate a CHM precision sheeter in partnership with Shanghai Eureka Machinery in Hall 16/Stand A03.

“Drupa is a terrific event and there is nothing else like it,” remarked Bruce Peterson, President of Colter & Peterson. “We have been planning for over a year and I think our equipment will be in high demand. We have over 30,000 Microcut installations worldwide, and the CHM precision sheeter should attract a crowd as well. Drupa will give people the chance to see both products in action.”

The top-of-the-line Microcut PLUS WS retrofit system will be showcased at drupa. The unit offers many new features and the ability to add a bar code reader. Demonstrated last month at the HP Dscoop digital conference in San Antonio, Texas, it automatically creates a cutting program based on the CIP file referenced by the bar code.

“We are very excited by this new development and our partnership with the prepress and press suppliers,” commented Jeff Marr, President of Microcut. “We have a long history of automating the paper cutting process and this is another solution developed in response to requests from the market.”

In addition to showing a retrofit system on a POLAR 66” paper cutter, Microcut will introduce the next generation of their complete electrical control package. Marr said this static display will show all of the components of the system and functioning in a simulated environment. It is a further development of the successful B65 system that offers a complete electrical solution for new and used paper cutters. In addition to some new benefits and options, the system has become more standardized with reduced components for easier ordering and installation.

The Microcut Cutter Control System is a retrofit package that can be installed on almost any brand guillotine paper cutter ranging in size from 20-150 inches. At the same time, it brings the machine up to modern electrical standards. Many small, medium and large format printers and converters typically can experience a productivity increase of 50% or more with Microcut, which performs precise cuts within 1/64th of an inch.

Peterson said the CHM precision sheeter combines the best of European, North American and Asian technology to produce excellent quality.

“This machine is designed to cut many different types of paper and board for most printers and converters. It is extremely versatile and our customers have said they find it to be very reliable. They give it high marks for consistent performance and the servo motor drive system, and the touch screen controls make it easy for their operators.”
