Corel to Bundle Software with Epson Printers

Fall COMDEX, Las Vegas - Corel Corporation (NASDAQ: CORL, TSE: COR) is pleased to announce a deal with Epson America, Inc. that will see Corel Print OfficeÅ 2000 and Corel Print HouseÅ 2000 bundled with two of Epson's new StylusÆ Color inkjet printers. Corel will combine its comprehensive Corel Print Office 2000 Multilingual for the PC and Mac with the Epson Stylus Color 880/880i for the Latin American market. The mid-range, twelve page-per-minute (ppm) Epson Stylus Color 880 targets the growing number of small business and home office users; it retails for $149 USD. Corel Print House 2000 will be bundled for PC and Mac in North America with the consumer-friendly Epson Stylus Color 777/777i. The eight page-per-minute (ppm) Epson Stylus Color 777 aims squarely at the home market and retails for $99 USD. "This partnership with Epson America reaffirms the strong brand recognition of Corel's consumer applications in the digital imaging and desktop publishing markets," said Jon Riis, director of North America OEM sales. "We have worked closely with Epson America for many years now and we strive to deliver the best possible all-in-one solution for the end user." The new printers are part of Epson's next generation of inkjets with faster print speeds and enhanced photo quality output. Epson expects several million printers to be sold with Corel Print Office 2000 and Corel Print House 2000 over the next year, indicating their commitment to this package and the future vision of both companies. "Bundling these Corel products helps position our printers more effectively to SOHO and family consumers," said Rodrigo Catalan, product manager, Epson America. "Corel adds value to our products and helps users maximize several of the advanced capabilities featured in our Stylus Color 777 and Stylus Color 880 printers." Corel Print Office 2000 is an easy-to-use desktop publishing program that allows small businesses to create brochures, business cards and other graphics projects with a professional look. Corel Print House 2000 is a home publishing solution that includes innovative photo-editing tools, thousands of images, and flexible layouts that lets users add special effects to pictures, for print or the Web in a matter of seconds.
