Friday, October 30, 2015

Press release from the issuing company

Città di Castelllo, Italy - Precision Printing, one of the largest digital printers in the UK, recently installed a CMC CartonWrap 500 box-on-demand system to automate its packaging of Photo Books personalized and produced in low quantities from an HP Indigo 10000.   CMC CartonWrap is able to produce variable sized cartons dynamically from a flat corrugated supply at the rate of 500 cartons per hour, the system is aimed at the e-commerce fulfillment market.

Precision Printing has over 40 years of delivering reliable, innovative and highly professional print services to businesses, both large and small.  Winner of several industry excellence awards, Precision stand for value, quality and service.

The CMC Cartonwrap 500 is a unique box on demand solution capable to wrap single and multiple book photo book orders using corrugated fed from a fanfold stack.  Photo Book orders are scanned by an operator and placed on the inlet conveyor where a scanner detects the product 3 dimensions and triggers the feeding of corrugated to create the exact dimension box.  The photo books are automatically placed in the carton, the carton is sealed and the shipping label is automatically printed and applied to the parcel.  The PC ADD Control System was adapted to Precision Printing’s exist IT infrastructure to track the data /product according to the database to guarantee 100% integrity of the entire process.

A unique feature of the CartonWrap system was the ability to create a box for photo books that can be mailed at normal postal rates, creating significant cost savings versus mailing at parcel rates.  In addition, since boxes are created to the exact size of the photo books, Precision Printing is able to better manage their pre-made box inventory, reduce the packaging labor cost and eliminate  void filler materials in their shipments.

Andy Skarpellis, Precision Printing Group Production Director  says: "When looking at the market place, CMC was the only provider that offered a fully variable complete end to end box that was rigid and robust enough to deal with the postal service. Build quality was of the upmost importance and the CMC engineers are some of the best i have dealt with. The flexibility of how bespoke the machine is was critical and we seem to have delivered on every point."

Francesco Ponti, CMC CEO commented "We are very proud that CMC Cartonwrap has become part of Precision Printing workflow and it will contribute to their mission to consistently deliver beyond expectations".
