Delphax Technologies Announces Sale of Elan 500 to Prime Data

Press release from the issuing company

Innovative direct marketing company becomes the first private Canadian company to install the new high-performance color print system

MINNEAPOLIS - Delphax Technologies Inc., a global provider of high- speed digital printing equipment, today announced the placement of an elanTM 500 digital color print system with Prime Data, a direct marketing company based in Aurora, Ontario.

Prime Data joins the growing list of elan customers and is the first private Canadian company to install the new elan 500, which combines major advances in inkjet and paper-handling technologies in a robust production class sheet-fed system offering full CMYK color and 1600 dpi print quality at speeds of up to 500 letter impressions per minute.

“Prime Data invests in technology, and this particular technology is a game-changer for variable direct mail,” said Steve Falk, president of Prime Data, a Canada Post Expert Partner. “It’s a great option for any organization that needs to offer the personal touch in communication with customers and prospects and reach them quickly with time-sensitive offers or appeals.”

Prime Data recently received the Top Performer Award for Excellence in Direct Mail Growth from Canada Post Corporation, the country’s primary postal operator. Deepak Chopra, chief executive officer of Canada Post, praised Prime Data as “one of the best, if not the best, evangelist of the power of mail in moving hearts.”

“The variable printing options offered by Prime Data have helped it build its reputation as one of the most innovative direct marketing companies in Canada,” said Dieter Schilling, president and chief executive officer of Delphax Technologies. “We are proud to be associated with this forward-looking company through its technology of choice to support future color growth in the direct mail marketplace.”

Powered by Memjet’s Waterfall Printhead Technology®, elan represents an entirely new category of digital print technology and is Delphax’s response to growing customer demand for more efficient, versatile and affordable color printing equipment. Its combination of speed and sheet size makes it the fastest cut sheet inkjet printer in the market today.

The elan digital front end (DFE) uses the Harlequin HHR RIP from Global Graphics for both publishing and variable workflow, driven by Delphax’s unique scalable RIP architecture. The intuitive touch-screen interface simplifies the operator experience, keeping input options clear and uncomplicated. Comprehensive reporting systems provide detailed metrics and permit real-time analysis of system performance for printer operators.

A pioneer in digital print production, Delphax has captured the largest worldwide market share in check- printing applications, developing a highly regarded global customer-service and support organization in the process.
