TAPPI Student Video Competition winners to be revealed at Centennial Celebration

ATLANTA, Ga. - TAPPI is pleased to announce the top three video submissions of the Centennial Celebration Student Video Competition. An anonymous panel of judges, selected from industry leaders who are also TAPPI Members, evaluated each video and selected the top three videos from the submissions. The top three videos were submitted from the following schools in no particular order: University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point; University of Washington; Western Michigan University.

The competition was designed by a committee of TAPPI members, announced on Dec. 5, 2014, and the video submission deadline was Feb. 10, 2015. Members of any TAPPI student chapter were eligible to enter as either individuals or as groups, with only one video submission per student chapter allowed. Teams consisted of only student chapter members.

Each participating student chapter submitted a 3-minute video showcasing the history and envisioning the future of the pulp, paper, packaging, tissue and related industries.

A total of ten videos were submitted from the following schools:

Alabama Southern Community College
Auburn University
Indian Institute of Technology
Miami University (Ohio)
North Carolina State University
University of Maine
University of Washington
University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point
University of Wisconsin – Stout
Western Michigan University
Winning submissions were evaluated on creativity, presentation, technical division content, and the representation of future innovations, among other elements.

The Grand Prize Winner will receive $5,000 for their student chapter, while 1st Runner-Up gets $2,500 for their student chapter and the 2nd Runner-Up will get $1,000 for their student chapter.

Students and student chapter sponsors are encouraged to attend the Centennial Celebration Gala on April 20, during which the official rankings of the winners will be revealed. All videos will be displayed at the Alumni Soirée on April 19 during PaperCon and full versions will available for viewing on TAPPI's Vimeo channel after April 6.
