e-print optimizes workflow by using real image preview on POLAR cutter

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

Press release from the issuing company

Largest Malaysian web-2-print company e-print invested in High-Speed Cutter from POLAR to optimize their workflow. With the new N 115 PRO the print shop is able to use real image preview of the complete sheet directly in the operator screen. Thus the operator can see the handling of the material with the help of the real sheet.

Highest quality at lowest prices is the philosophy of e-print. The company is using the latest technology in prepress, press and postpress to realize this claim. In printing they trust on Heidelberg presses and in cutting POLAR is their partner of choice. As a web-2-print company most cutting jobs are combined sheets with several different jobs and sizes on the sheet. It can take up to 20 minutes to create a cutting program for such sheets. Mr. Brian Poon Weng Chiu, CEO of e-print, was very pleased when he saw the possibilities to optimize the cutting process with POLAR Compucut® in combination with the real image preview in the N PRO machines. “POLAR is the only supplier who can offer this”, explains Brian Poon. “Cutting is a crucial process for us. We have to have lowest make-ready times as well as zero wastage in the cutting. With Compucut® and the real image preview the operation of the cutting machine got so easy that even less skilled people can do this job now. We are using this workflow automation as a marketing tool which convinces most of our customers.”

Workflow of real image preview on N 115 PRO

Prepress generates a ppf file containing the sheet layout with cutting data as well as a separate preview image of the printed sheet. POLAR Compucut® takes this ppf file together with the preview image and creates the cutting program. This cutting program including the preview image is transferred directly via network to the cutting machine. When the operator is now looking for the next cutting job he can compare the preview image with the real sheet on the machine table. This reduces the risk of errors and almost everybody can operate the cutter. By using Compucut® the make ready time got down to almost zero even for difficult gang jobs.
