Barnsley Chronicle Purchase a Second Automatic Strapping Machine from Mosca

Press release from the issuing company

Due to the expiration of some non-Mosca machines, Barnsley Chronicle (Yorkshire Web) were in the market for a new automatic strapper.  One of Mosca’s Business Development Managers, Richard Butler, assessed the needs and felt a ROMFUSION was the best fit for the customer’s requirements for a reliable strapping machine to work on the exit of Muller Martini ‘stitch and trim’ line. The chosen machines needed to be able to apply a single strap to the magazine prior to loading it on to a pallet.

Barnsley Chronicle is a long standing enthusiast of Mosca machines.  They purchased their first Mosca machine back in 2005, an automated RO-TRD, followed by a ROMFUSION in 2013 and another in 2014. The Newspaper has been very impressed with the performance and reliability of both their existing Mosca machines which play an important role in the end of line operation; “If the machines did not perform, it could significantly slow down or even stop the Newspaper Press in its tracks...which we simply cannot afford,” states Tim Brooks, Engineering Manager at Barnsley Chronicle.

It was Barnsley Chronicle’s positive history with its existing Mosca machines and the overall Mosca experience which gave them the confidence to stick with the strapping machine specialist when it came to acquiring a new stand alone machine.

In choosing the ROMFUSION, they appreciated the simplicity of the ‘Direct Drive Technology’ which utilises low energy consumption brushless DC drives and eliminates the use of gears, pulleys, chains and belts to provide increased reliability and minimum down-time.  This, plus the ease of being able to maintain and clean the machine, ensured the Mosca machines stood out above all others.

Tim Brookes expressed his delight with the Mosca machines:  “Mosca machines are by no means the cheapest, but you definitely get what you pay for.  Mosca are the Rolls Royce of the strapping world!  As a small company, we can’t afford down-time, so we need machines that do what we want without any problems.  The Mosca’s are quick, reliable, and easy to use.  We will definitely come to Mosca in the future for our strapping machinery requirements!”

The Barnsley Chronicle is one of the UK's oldest regional newspapers and one of the few weeklies still in private ownership. It was launched in 1858 and celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2008.

ROMFUSION machines are thermostatically controlled, heat-weld sealing systems that utilise energy saving wear-free DC drives and brushless motor technology. They come with electronic controls as standard, a hinged table plate, adjustable strap tension via potentiometer and a selector switch for soft strapping of delicate bundles.  ROMFUSION machines fall into the Automatic Strapping Machine category and come from a vast range of semi-automatic through to fully-automated strapping systems from Mosca.
Mosca strapping systems are German designed and manufactured and available in the UK through a wholly owned subsidiary, Mosca Direct Ltd, based in Cotgrave, Nottingham.

Mosca Direct has an extensive team of UK based sales, service, engineering and customer service representatives, plus an emergency out-of-hours service.  For more information on Mosca machines or to order strap or spare parts call 0115 989 0209.
