Free Webinar: The Preference for Paper

Press release from the issuing company

Free WhatTheyThink webinar, sponsored by Canon, discusses preference for paper across a variety of applications and demographics

WhatTheyThink.com - WhatTheyThink today announced the opportunity for industry professionals to attend a free printing industry educational webinar, The Preference for Paper. The session will be moderated by WhatTheyThink Senior Editor Cary Sherburne and feature Jim Hamilton, Group Director at research firm InfoTrends. During a lively, interactive discussion, Hamilton and Sherburne will explore paper preferences across a variety of applications and demographics based on InfoTrends’ and other research.

The session is scheduled for Wednesday, November 12th, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM EST (-5 GMT).

No-charge registration is available by visiting WhatTheyThink.com and selecting the Webinars tab.

“The research we will discuss in this session shows that there is still a strong preference for paper, even among young people, for certain types of applications,” said Sherburne. “The challenge for the printing industry is to be able to articulate how print adds value to the modern media mix while accepting where it doesn’t. Our objective in this session is to share facts and ideas that can be used to position the value of print in an increasingly digital world. Join us to learn more about this important topic.”

Hamilton will be sharing InfoTrends research commissioned by the Envelope Manufacturers Association that encompasses the opinions of 3,000 consumers relative to the value of paper for bills, statements and other transactional documents, as well as research published by Scientific American documenting why the brain prefers paper.

“As an industry, we need to be creative and forward-thinking as to how we present the value of print to today’s decision makers,” said Eric Vessels, President of WhatTheyThink. “We hope our members will find this session a valuable step toward achieving that goal. We appreciate the generosity of Canon U.S.A. in sponsoring this important industry event, making it available to our members at no charge.

Attendees will be able to participate in a live question and answer session to get the most from the experience and will be able to view and listen to the presentation using a standard Internet browser (Flash-enabled) with audio streamed via computer.
