Specialty Finishing Group Announces Merger with Delta Press

Press release from the issuing company

Elk Grove-based Specialty Finishing Group, the largest commercial bindery and lettershop in the entire Midwest just got bigger!

SFG proudly announces a merger with Franklin Park-based Delta Press, a company that provides die cutting, foil stamping, embossing and other specialized finishing to area commercial printers. The addition of Delta Press expands SFG’s unique product line of post press binding processes like spiral wire, plastic coil, double-wire, padding, and perfect binding.

“Delta is considered the best at what they do,” says SFG’s CEO, Jim Gallo. “They are considered the craftsmen of the industry. Delta has an unmatched reputation for quality and customer service. We are thrilled to have them join our family and to be able to offer their services to our customers.”

Gallo said they did a lot of homework when looking for a partner. “We talked to many of our customers to get a better feel of what our they thought of Delta. The overwhelming response was that they always send Delta their more difficult or specialized jobs,” Gallo added.

Michael Naselli, Delta’s president and now SFG’s new Vice President talked about Delta’s search for a buyer. “It was important for me to find a buyer that would result in a win for our customers, have a good working environment for our employees, and a place where I felt John and I would be able to work well with the new owners,” says Naselli. “It is truly the joining of two companies in which the total will be greater than the individual parts.”

Delta Press was originally a commercial printer when it was formed almost seventy years ago. The company decided to focus on graphic arts finishing in the mid-1980s and has gained an impeccable reputation for service and craftsmanship. Now, Delta will bring that reputation to Specialty when they move into the Elk Grove headquarters later this year.

Specialty Finishing Group was founded in 1998 and has been the product of numerous acquisitions. SFG is entrusted with the production of the training manuals for Starbucks, maintenance manuals for McDonalds, safe driving books for State Farm Insurance, and the production of millions of pads for Dicks Sporting Goods. SFG will produce for its printing customers, more than 5 million calendars in the 4th quarter alone. SFG’s lettershop processes mail for American Express, Famous Footwear, Lowes, and hundreds of other household names.
