AMSP/NAPL/NAQP Program Helps Companies Grow By Adding Signage to Their Service Offerings

Unique two-day Signage Start-Up Program couples comprehensive signage management information with hands-on experience in a working signage operation

East Rutherford, N.J.AMSP/NAPL/NAQP has introduced a new Signage Start-Up Program designed to assist graphic communications companies that want to grow sales and profitability by adding signage and other wide-format products to their printing services. The unique two-day program helps companies jump-start their diversification initiative by giving them comprehensive signage business management information coupled with hands-on experience in a working signage operation.

“Most printers today are struggling with sales growth, but we can show them how signage services can add $250,000 to $500,000 to their sales volume in the next 12 months alone?and that’s just from their current customers,” says program manager Mitch Evans, AMSP/NAPL/NAQP Vice President, who heads up the small business advisory services offered by the association, formed earlier this year through the merger of the Association of Marketing Service Providers, National Association for Printing Leadership, and National Association of Quick Printers. 

The Signage Start-Up Program comprises a two-day consultancy at the Sign D’ Sign print shop in Bluffton, S.C., where companies can get a first-hand look at the type of sign shop they can add to their current printing operation. As part of the new program, the experienced Sign D’ Sign staff will provide participants with specific knowledge on every aspect of creating a sign business within an existing print shop, including space requirements, equipment needed, the most popular sign products and services, supply/inventory needs, production and installation methods, pricing, marketing, sales, and employee training. Attendees will also receive a personalized Sign Business Owner’s Manual documenting all the information a company needs to know to successfully add signage to its services.

“Participants in the program will get intensive hands-on training that will enable them to expand into sign products and services seamlessly,” says Evans, who was one of the first printers to add sign services to his previous business, Print Tech, in 1988. Following the sale of Print Tech in 2001, Evans began his consulting career, eventually returning to print shop ownership when he purchased Sign D’ Sign in the Hilton Head, S.C., area in 2006.

As a member of AMSP/NAPL/NAQP’s Business Advisory Group and NAQP Managing Director, he works with graphic communications company owners on growth strategies, transition strategies, valuation, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, digital printing technologies, sales and marketing plans, and sales compensation. He is a regular columnist in Quick Printing Magazine and a speaker at major industry conferences.
