Adobe Announces Public Sector Chief Technology Officer

Press release from the issuing company

John Landwehr to Drive Innovation through Digitization of Government, Mobile-First Adoption, Cloud Services

Washington, D.C.Adobe today announced it has appointed John Landwehr as its first-ever public sector chief technology officer (CTO). Effective immediately, Landwehr will spearhead Adobe’s initiatives to help the government ecosystem better digitize workflows and services, creating forward-looking digital and mobile experiences for the enterprise and the public. These solutions encompass traditional desktop, mobile and server software, as well as new managed service offerings that are delivered as FedRAMP authorized cloud services.

As public sector organizations work to efficiently serve the people, it is increasingly important that their online services are both accessible to everyone on the most popular devices and implemented through scalable, secure and cost-effective advances in cloud computing. Industry statistics show that more than half of the U.S. population has a smartphone, yet only a fraction of government websites are mobile-friendly, limiting the effectiveness of these critical resources.

Landwehr has more than 20 years of enterprise technology experience working with commercial and public sector organizations. At Adobe for over a dozen years, his innovations include Adobe’s first iPhone and BlackBerry mobile applications, advances in digital signature technology, enterprise rights management for protecting privacy and intellectual property and several technology patents. His public sector experience includes solutions incorporating electronic documents, digital media, Web content management, analytics, information assurance and collaboration technologies. He has provided testimony to Congress, held positions at NeXT and Apple and is a graduate of Northwestern University.
