QuadTech to show portfolio at ExpoPrint Latin America 2014

Press release from the issuing company

QuadTech and local agent, Caltronic Automação Industrial, will present QuadTech’s latest color register, digital ink injection, color control and web inspection solutions for commercial and newspaper printers at ExpoPrint Latin America 2014, (16-22 July, Transamérica Expo Center, São Paulo, Brazil).

At the show, visitors to the QuadTech booth (Pavilion G, Stand 11-G) can learn about automated press controls designed to enable Brazilian printers to maximize local market opportunities and meet demands for improved print quality, production efficiencies and reduced costs.

Under a new support and service structure printers will also be able to pay for QuadTech support in Brazilian Reais—avoiding costly bank transfer, currency conversion fees and associated taxes. This service is provided by Caltronic, who with 20 years of specialist market knowledge can deliver fast, in-depth support in the local language to QuadTech customers.

“Due to the recent economic changes in Brazil, print quality standards have increased quite dramatically and local printers are facing a new set of production challenges,” José Carlos Valverde, QuadTech Sales Manager for Latin America, comments.

“Utilizing our portfolio of market leading automated color and inspection systems, we have the products and services to enable Brazilian commercial and newspaper printers to meet these market requirements and achieve reliable, high quality output with faster turnaround times, and reduced ink and substrate waste.”

Among the systems featured at ExpoPrint will be:

For web offset printers, the QuadTech® Digital Ink System is a computer controlled ink injection system that replaces traditional open fountain ink trains, and can be used to upgrade existing "pump and rail" systems. It provides more accurate density control at all press speeds with significant cost savings, and delivers enhanced images with precise accuracy.

The QuadTech Color Control System with Instrument Flight® and SpectralCamTM enables commercial printers to adapt to shorter print runs and drive higher print quality with uniform color over the entire print run. Spectral data is used to calculate L*a*b* and densitometric values and is then evaluated by System Brunner's enhanced Instrument Flight® + L*a*b* for the highest levels of accuracy in color control and gray balance control.

Commercial and newspaper printers can also benefit from QuadTech’s MultiCam™ technology, which is also available as an upgrade to RGS IV and RGS V products. Adding MultiCam ensures identification of marks as small as 0.36mm (0.014in) across the entire repeat length of the web and can find them 30%+ faster during make-ready.

The QuadTech Register Guidance System with MultiCam® is a closed-loop color-to-color register control system that enables printers to achieve good copy quickly, reducing waste. Also, optional fan-out control for newspaper printing automatically keeps the system in lateral register across the width of the web. QuadTech Ribbon Control System with MultiCam® is a print-to-cut and print-to-fold registration system that minimizes waste during make-ready and when cutting any imperfect substrate areas. It is easily integrated with other equipment like UV coaters, folders and rotary cutters.

The QuadTech Color Control and Web Inspection System with AccuCam™ for newspaper and semi-commercial applications is a closed-loop color control system that can include on-the-fly water control management. It automatically adjusts ink and water levels at full press speeds, reducing common newspaper printing problems such as scumming, creasing, and tramlines. The system inspects the moving web, catching errors automatically at startup and during the press run—including quick detection of plating errors.

To streamline operations, the QuadTech® ICON™ platform is a single, central station that can integrate with existing software and is designed for optimal efficiency. Operators can quickly recall and apply stored job setup data, delivering savings in terms of equipment setup time, labor and materials.

Vitor Caldana, General Manager, Caltronic Automação Industrial, says, “We look forward to meeting visitors at ExpoPrint and learning about their businesses. We are confident that no matter what press or workflow they are running, we have a QuadTech solution that will provide the right level of automation to deliver improved business performance.”
