CHICAGO - R. R. Donnelley & Sons Company announced today that it has received the 2014 Sustainability Silver Award from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM)-Chicago for their work in the areas of sustainability and safety. "We are extremely honored to receive this award in these two critically important areas," said Michael D. Manzella, Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer Environmental, Health, Safety & Quality at RR Donnelley. "Our sustainability approach is highly focused on the areas of resource efficiency, green procurement, waste minimization and stewardship and we work collaboratively to support our customers' sustainability initiatives as well as those of our suppliers."

With respect to the safety element of the award, Manzella added, "In addition to safety compliance, as we worked to create an environment where employees look out for each other, we noted a step change in performance and a dramatic decrease in injuries as reflected by our company injury rates that are more than 60% below the industry average."

The Institute for Supply Management is the first supply management institute in the world. Founded in 1915, ISM exists to lead and serve the supply management profession and is a highly influential and respected association in the global marketplace. Our philosophy is to integrate the two as we continuously pursue opportunities to improve sustainability across all of our worldwide operations," said Dan Knotts, RR Donnelley's Chief Operating Officer. "All of us at RR Donnelleystrive to improve our Environment, Health & Safety performance by utilizing practices that protect employees and the environment, and we are particularly pleased to be recognized with this prestigious award."
