Bruehlsche Universitaetsdruckerei (Germany) and Severotisk (Czech Republic) get latest control console technology from manroland web systems

Friday, March 28, 2014

Press release from the issuing company

manroland web systems develops integrated solutions for retrofits, custom-made for older printing presses. The solutions are designed to reduce downtimes and cancellation expenses and, at the same time, to increase the performance of the printing system. Retrofits assure the availability of the press for the customer and upgrade the automation. A retrofit of the control system enables a significantly better performance with higher product quality and less interruptions of the production run.

Quantum leap in the development of control and operating functions
Retrofit was especially developed for control consoles of the press lines LITHOMAN/ROTOMAN/POLYMAN that are equipped with HP 1000 controls, which are supposed to be exchanged completely. The latest generation of control console servers can be integrated to the older control consoles without any problems. Therewith the customer gets up-to-date hardware, analog a new printing press. Besides the obvious improvement of the availability of the press also the ease of use for the printer, enabled by modern touch screens, is increased significantly. Accessing the press via remote control with the manroland web systems TeleSupport Center (TSC) is also an option now. This has not been possible without the retrofit.

Hans-Joachim Stephan, Head of Production at Bruehlsche Universitaetsdruckerei in Giessen, is impressed by the latest technology: „Especially when it comes to operation at the control console, we can realize the quantum leap in development. The trainings were very helpful to handle the change. Our staff is stoked by the central control functions. The reduced waste rates, anyhow, are the major benefit – assured by the possibility of pre-inking with a PECOM Press Manager, which has not been available before. This cost reduction, in principle, makes the retrofit pay for itself.”
