Star Press Announces the Purchase of Flex-RPM from SoftSolutions

Press release from the issuing company

Flex-RPM: The Award-Winning Communication Platform that enables Real-time Production Management

Roanoke, VA – SoftSolutions and Star Press announced today an agreement to install Flex-RPM (Real-time Production Management) in Star Press’s Alberta, Canada facility.

Star Press looks to Flex-RPM to help decrease waste by making it more visible to management and operators, and to allow employees to compare real-time production data against the target goals.

Said Peter Holmes, Production Manager of Star Press, “Flex will be the compass on our journey down the long, winding path of lean manufacturing.  We chose Flex and the related DMIs (direct machine interface) as the highly intuitive user interface would help achieve strong buy-in and use by our employees in the press room and office.”

Star Press will utilize Flex to:

  • Decrease waste by making it more visible
  • Eliminate the need for going back on press due to under runs
  • Maximize production capability and efficiency
  • Increase co-ordination with post press and delivery
  • Know exactly when and where they have press time available based on hard historical data
  • Monitor downtime by gathering data on what is causing it, to prioritize preventative maintenance

Said Don Robb, VP Operations at SoftSolutions, “We look forward to partnering with Star Press to help enable their Managers and Operators become more effective in their every day jobs.  SoftSolutions sole focus is on improving shop floor operations, by providing reliable, real-time access to actionable information.  Flex gives them the ability to proactively manage their production environment, in real-time, by attacking sources of waste at the point of failure.”
