Friday, February 14, 2014

Press release from the issuing company

Sayville, NY - Paul Lilienthal, SGP Board Chairman, announces that The Sustainable Green Printing Partnership has selected Martine Padilla, as their Executive Director. Padilla brings with her industry expertise acquired through 30 years of print sales and operations, to agency and corporate purchasing of printed materials. "As an original stakeholder and past board member of SGP, Martine has a genuine passion for advancing sustainability best practices within the printing industry. We know our community will quickly recognize her strategic leadership and relentless relationship-building skills as she leads us forward," noted Lilienthal.

"I am so excited for this tremendous opportunity to lead the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership into the future. SGP is already the printing industry leader of sustainability best practices, through its development of vetted criterion and execution of third party verified certification. SGP printers recognize the value in their SGP certification as proven through their 93% recertification rate. Patronage by suppliers and solution providers has been amazing," says Padilla. "Towards continuous improvement, I look forward to expanding the SGP community. I am aggressively seeking new SGP partnerships with printers and patrons, but also with elite corporate print buyers and NGOs leaders. Being a print buyer myself, I know SGP printers can help print buyers who are being challenged to bring more sustainable print solutions to their organization towards achieving CSR and specific sustainability goals. Assuring that we are addressing all of our sustainability challenges with a holistic approach, we are seeking alliances with NGOs who are interested in sharing their global insights and influence within our community. Printers, suppliers, print buyers and NGO leaders who are interested in engaging in forward-thinking sustainability conversations should contact me directly at martine@sgppartnership.org."

Most recently, Martine, as President of Sophizio, developed a 10-Step Sustainability Road Map, towards advancing the sustainability-driven best practices of one of the world's largest retailers. The Road Map included steps for delineating strategic sourcing and tactical procurement processes when making substrate selections based on Environmental Performance Indicators (EPI), which recognize manufacturing mill-level intensities and sustainability readiness. While Print Director with Callahan Creek, Padilla analyzed print procurement at Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., where she uncovered dramatic cost savings potential. As Toyota's Authorized Print Director, Martine designed the right solution allowing Toyota to realize multi-million dollars in print-related savings through the implementation of a successful on-site print-buying model that continues today.

Throughout her career Martine has worked with other highly notable clientele such as Wal-Mart, Colgate, Russell Stover Candies, Avery Dennison, Payless ShoeSource, The Upper Deck Company, Konami, Topps and The Walt Disney Company. She has authored numerous blogs and white papers on the topics of print buying best practices and sustainability in printing, and these writings have been sourced by respected industry publications including Image Reports Magazine, The SGIA Journal and Printing Impressions. She has been a guest speaker at several conferences including the Specialty Graphics Imaging Association, the Print Buyers International Conference, the Digital Solutions Cooperative (Dscoop) Conference and EcoPrint Live in Berlin, Germany. She has been the Print Advisor for the Washburn Institute of Technology, advises several industry associations and is a member of the Institute of Supply Management (ISM).
