Chesapeake extends certification to the US

Press release from the issuing company

Chesapeake has recently extended its certification programme to both FSC® and PEFC™ Chain of Custody standards. Chesapeake’s operations at Long Island, Lexington and Evansville in the United States have successfully achieved FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody certification. This recent success brings the number of Chesapeake sites that can offer certified products to 31 locations whilst extending this ability to other geographical markets. Chesapeake is the only packaging supplier who can offer customers FSC and PEFC products across Europe and in the US.

Rachel Mail, Commercial Manager - North America, explains, “In the US, customer tenders for consumer healthcare business now expect FSC certification. Customers are also increasingly concerned about sustainability issues so securing these certifications demonstrates we take our environmental responsibility seriously.  These certifications will also allow us to bid for additional work in other markets.”

The BM TRADA auditor expressed his appreciation of the cooperation from all staff that he met and he commented that raising no non-conformances was a rarity in his experience. The audit was hosted in Long Island but also included a review of recent Chesapeake audits there as well as in Lexington and Evansville.

Group FSC PEFC Coordinator, Elaine Murray, concludes, “Chesapeake now has the ability to offer cartons, labels and other paper-based certified products across Europe and the US. As demand for FSC and PEFC certified packaging is growing, Chesapeake is working with several companies who intend to move part of their portfolio into these materials. We have invested a lot of effort to secure these certifications which are an integral part of our environmental strategy. ”
