Press release from the issuing company

Jointly organized by Messe Düsseldorf Asia and its local partner PT. Wahana Kemalaniaga Makmur (WAKENI), the next editions of INDOPLAS (The 9th Indonesian International Plastics Exhibition), INDOPACK (The 8th Indonesian International Packaging Exhibition) and INDOPRINT (The 8th Indonesian International Printing Exhibition) will take place from September 3 - 6, 2014 at the Jakarta International Expo in Indonesia.

Modeled after the world’s leading international trade fairs in the plastics, packaging and printing sectors – K, interpack and drupa - organized by Messe Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf, Germany – the Indonesian counterparts will continue their successful stagings in 2014 with a comprehensive display of global innovative technologies, machinery and equipment for these industries in Indonesia and the region. By combining these three exhibitions at one central location, this unique business platform will present ideal opportunities for local companies to gain international perspectives and for global companies to expand their regional portfolio.

With the remarkable growth of Indonesia’s printing, packaging and plastics industries, characterized by exceptionally strong consumption and foreign investment, demand for international market access into these markets is increasing steadily and the need for an industry platform has never been more significant.

Double digit revenue growth in the next two years is anticipated for the packaging industry in Indonesia due to stronger end-user demand fuelled by Indonesia’s economic growth. This growth is expected to be boosted mainly by the local food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries, particularly food and beverage which consumes around 70% of the total packaging supply. Plastic packaging – flexible and rigid – will see the greatest demand, contributing around 56% of the total demand. Indonesia is also home to some 44 million SME’s, 40% of which are in the food industry. According to industry experts, Indonesia’s packaging industry will see revenues double by 2016 if the current growth rate of 10% annually continues.

According to the World Wide Market for Print study by Pira International, Indonesia is also fast emerging as a significant print market with great long term potential having grown some 56.6% between 2006 and 2011. The country’s printing sector is already a $10 billion industry according to 2011 figures. Data from global research company International Data Corporation indicates that the printer consumables market in the Asia Pacific region (excluding Japan) grew 8.25% in 2011 with emerging economies like India, Indonesia and Thailand having more than 50% of the total consumable market share in unit terms.

At the last staging of INDOPLAS, INDOPACK and INDOPRINT in 2012, 253 exhibitors from 19 countries showcased their products – with 60% from overseas. Together with the more than 17,000 visitors from 30 nations, the trade fairs were very international. The majority of the visitors were from the plastics and rubber, mold and die, paper and pulp, electrical and electronics and packaging as well as from the households and leisure goods and information technology sectors. A total of 75% of the visitors were directly involved in the purchasing process.
