MCS Inkjet System With New Drying Technology Debuts at Label Expo

Press release from the issuing company

Gaithersburg, MD – At Label Expo 2008, MCS, Inc., a leader in industrial inkjet technology is showing its Array inkjet system along with its Next-Generation drying technology designed for inkjet printing.  The system allows for high-speed inkjet applications on paper and synthetic materials at dramatically lower costs than Continuous Solvent and UV systems.  This enables HP-based systems such as the MCS Array to be used on materials that were previously off-limits to water-based inks.

The new MCS S-800 Dryer utilizes Near-Infrared technology to provide a wavelength with energy that is more readily absorbed by water-based inks.  With more energy absorbed by the ink – and less by the substrate, drying is quicker and more efficient – with the substrate staying cooler than material dried by comparable-wattage traditional IR systems.

MCS has tested a variety of pressure-sensitive label materials including polypropylene, vinyl, polyester and coated paper labels with tremendous success.  The President of MCS, Dave Loos, mentioned; “In the last 2 years HP has formulated inks with additives that will adhere to almost any substrate”  Dave continued, “Now this new drying technology lets printers run at higher production speeds by rapidly evaporating the water contained in the ink.”

MCS’ Array inkjet systems utilize HP nozzle technology to allow printing at resolutions up to 600DPI with speeds commonly in the 250 to 375 feet per minute range.  With scalable print widths from ½” to 16 inches, these systems employ replaceable nozzle technology to bring quality inkjet systems to the market at a fraction of the cost of continuous inkjet – but with the most competitive feature set.
MCS will be in booth 1757 at the Label Expo Americas Show from Sept 9-11.
