First Océ ColorStream 3700 in Germany Installed at Datev eG

Press release from the issuing company

High-performance inkjet printing for leaner workflow, broader range of applications and lower costs

Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery and a Canon Group company, today announced that Datev is the first company in Germany to invest in an Océ ColorStream 3700.

Changeover from monochrome to color
Datev eG is the leading German provider of IT services in the field of accounting, human resources management, business advisory services, tax computation and organization.

The high-performance full-color inkjet printing system is intended to partly replace the mostly toner-based continuous feed and single-sheet systems in Datev's Nuremberg printing, logistics and service center. The Océ ColorStream 3700 printer will also simplify the changeover between monochrome and color runs. This will reduce the number of process steps, lower costs and increase the number of applications.

Ideal printing system for transaction and document printing…
"With this investment, we are pursuing two central objectives – full color and further automation," said Uwe Hammann, Dispatching and Printing Technology Manager at Datev. "This will positively impact our core business - transaction printing for tax offices and tax advisory associations - as well as document printing for banks, insurers and official bodies."

The Océ ColorStream 3700 brings these previously separate output steps together. Whether simplex and duplex lists, black & white or color documents, Datev will output all of this in future on one system. This eliminates the need for offset pre-printing of these forms and remittance slips, manual commissioning of print jobs, the laborious gathering together of documents and cost-intensive storage in a warehouse.

…and for TransPromo and personalized mail
"At the same time, we want to extend our printing business and offer additional stimuli through inkjet color printing – for example in the TransPromo and personalized insert fields," explains Peter Wild, Manager of the Datev Printing Center. "The feedback we have received from our customers is already very positive."

These customers include banks, insurers and local authorities that place great emphasis on data protection and confidentiality. The Datev print, logistics and dispatch center is particularly well qualified to process confidential information due to its extraordinarily high security level.

Sharp details and smooth halftones
The Océ ColorStream 3700 is a high-performance inkjet printing system that combines productivity, efficiency and quality in a unique manner. The full-color webfed system prints with a speed of 100 meters per minute – in the Twin configuration this corresponds to 1350 pages in A4 format. Multilevel Océ DigiDot modulation produces brilliantly sharp details and smooth halftones with a perceived image quality of 1200 dpi at full-rated speed. With these features the Océ ColorStream 3700 can cope with all requirements in transaction printing, TransPromo, direct mailing and book production.

"We're delighted to support Datev in its realignment of document production," comments Sebastian Landesberger, Executive Vice President Commercial Printing. "With its performance, the Océ ColorStream 3700 is the ideal printing system for Datev's high-volume applications in the fields of both transaction printing and TransPromo."
