MM's SigmaTrimming Center to Perform Live at GRAPH EXPO

Press release from the issuing company

For those interested in an ultra-efficient book trimming solution, a visit to Muller Martini’s Booth #2017 at this year’s Graph Expo is time well spent. Performing live is the world’s first zero makeready three-knife trimmer.

The SigmaTrimming Center is designed for commercial-quality finishing of both offset- and digitally produced books in a one-off, short- or long-run workflow. It is the proven fully automated, true one-off 3-knife trimmer available in today’s market. The trimming system also boasts zero makeready, enabling highly efficient one-off book production.

Visitors to the Muller booth can get an up-close look at a variety of the SigmaTrimming Center’s powerful capabilities and features, including:

  • Industry-first zero makeready, which delivers true 1,000 fully variable books per hour
  • Infinite trim variability within the machine specifications easily accommodates non-standard trim sizes
  • Barcode technology enables real-time error-free data input and machine set-up, minimizing production delays
  • A fixed-position knife station design with limited moving parts helps eliminate wear and provides high-end commercial-trim quality

In particular, bindery professionals whose books are being trimmed on multiple inline trimmers, nearline trimmers or flatbed cutters should plan a visit to the Muller booth to get a firsthand look at how this inefficient workflow can be consolidated and effectively processed through the SigmaTrimming Center—without any additional production planning effort and with considerable labor savings.

As part of a special promotion, visitors will be invited to “trim your own book,” whereby they can actually “take the controls” of the SigmaTrimming Center and trim a book of their choosing—while experiencing just how easy and fast one-off digital book production can be.

The SigmaTrimming Center is part of Muller Martini’s fully scalable SigmaLine technology, the world’s first commercial-quality and totally modular digital book manufacturing system. Scalable SigmaLine was honored with a “Must See ‘Em” award at an earlier Graph Expo.

Graph Expo takes place October 7-12, 2012 at McCormick Place South in Chicago. Muller Martini’s theme at this year’s show is “New or Renewed: Engineered for Greater Productivity.” Muller’s engineers and product experts will be on hand to explain and demonstrate to printers and finishers how they can remain competitive and relevant through investments in either new and innovative print and finishing equipment, or in upgrades and other enhancements that can increase throughput on existing machines.
