Komori OffsetOnDemand Attracts Crowds at drupa

Press release from the issuing company

Komori announced the launch of its new OffsetOnDemand message at drupa 2012 to interested attendees who filled the stand to watch the demonstration on the eight-color Lithrone G40 perfector press. The press was equipped with Komori’s award winning H-UV innovative curing and drying system, Komori’s KHS-AI software with self-learning, the PQA-S sheet inspection system and the asynchronous automatic plate-changing system. Those viewing the demonstration expressed amazement at the speed and efficiency of the GL840P, which completed three short-run jobs in less than eleven minutes.

“The OffsetOnDemand message is really not a new one for Komori,” said Doug Schardt, Komori America product manager. “We have been demonstrating our ‘20 sheets to stability’ for the past few years with our KHS-AI software. However, when you add the new plate-changing system and H-UV to the mix, you will experience technology no other manufacturer can offer. The ultimate goal is efficiency—and with that comes waste reduction. In the current marketplace, printers have to find ways to be the low-cost provider, and the easiest way to achieve that goal is to reduce waste of the most costly consumable in the printing process—the substrate.”

Key to the success of OffsetOnDemand is Komori’s H-UV drying system that delivers bindery-ready sheets. “What visitors found most impressive was to see the first 16-page, 200 sheet job printed on the GL840P, bound and back in their hands as a completed brochure in about six minutes,” said Jacki Hudmon, senior vice-president of sales and marketing for Komori America. “Our GL840P demo was a

virtual crowd stopper and generated several orders for Komori America,” said Hudmon. “In our experience, drupa 2012 was a turning point for our industry and Komori, and we will be very busy with drupa follow-up as we head into the summer months.”
