Xitron Announces Record Setting drupa

Press release from the issuing company

Xitron, a leading developer of open prepress workflow systems, announced a record setting response in product interest and show sales of its prepress and pressroom workflow on display at drupa May 3-16.

“drupa was an overwhelming success for Xitron,” stated Mark Eisenschenk, Xitron's President and Chief Executive Officer. “Our new inkjet RIP & Workflow for the screen, flexo and commercial printers along with our mobile proofing app for iOS and Android were well received by our dealers, distributors, OEMs and end-user customers.”

Three new inkjet RIP and Workflow offerings producing film positive, film negative or polyester plate output directly from Epson Stylus Pro printers were among the products announced and immediately available for customer shipment. In addition, Xitron highlighted its Windows 7 64-bit compatible USB device interfaces for the Heidelberg Prosetter, Agfa CtP and Screen CtP.

A technology preview of the next generation Navigator Workflow Server featuring a Mobile Proofing app for iOS and Android drew the most buzz from visitors to the stand.

“Mobile proofing is the first app for the next generation Navigator Workflow Server,” stated Eric Nelsen, Xitron’s Vice President of Product Management. “Simplifying communication and automating interaction between the prepress department and the printer’s clients is a commonly requested enhancement from users. The Mobile Proofing app accomplishes both requirements as well as offering the potential to significantly reduce turnaround time by cutting delays waiting for client approval.”

Xitron highlighted its entire line of prepress and pressroom workflow products for screen, flexo and commercial printers.

The Navigator Workflow Server is the foundation for Xitron’s prepress and pressroom workflow products including the Navigator Direct-to-Film, Navigator Direct-to-Plate, Navigator GPS, Navigator Elite and KeySetter Connect ink key presetting software.

Xitron’s Navigator Workflow helps prepress operators increase productivity, manage workflow, and reduce costs. An intuitive interface allows operators to manage their work from a Windows or Macintosh workstation, while directing output production through one or more Harlequin RIPs.

Inkjet workflows including the Navigator direct-to-film and direct-to-plate workflows driving Epson Stylus Pro 4900, 7700, 7890, 7900, 9700, 9890 and 9900 provide cost effective output capabilities for printers. These workflows are the latest additions to the expanding inkjet-based product offerings from Xitron.

Xitron’s Windows 7 64-bit compatible USB interfaces support Xitron’s full line of workflow products including the Navigator workflow based on Harlequin RIP core technology, Xenith Sierra based on the Adobe PDF Print Engine and Raster Blaster, a TIFF catcher capable of accepting TIFF files from a variety of third-party workflow systems and outputting to any of the hundreds of devices support by Xitron. The new USB interfaces are available for leading CTP manufacturers including Agfa, ECRM, Fuji, Heidelberg and Screen.

Xenith Sierra is the premier workflow offering in Xitron’s line of RIP and workflow solutions. Based on JDF and the Adobe PDF Print Engine technology, Xenith Sierra is an excellent solution for larger printers who need comprehensive control over every job, while automating prepress tasks, Xenith Sierra provides the tools and power to substantially increase throughput, improve quality, reduce errors, and maximize performance.

Raster Blaster accepts standard 1-bit TIFF files from virtually any prepress workflow. Xitron device interfaces convert the TIFF to the appropriate output format to drive the specific CtP, direct imaging press or imagesetter.
