PRIMIR Findings on Packaging: Opportunities in Expanding Market

Press release from the issuing company

PRIMIR, the Print Industries Market Information and Research Organization, during its Summer Meeting, June 20-22, 2012 at the Hilton Hotel & Executive Meeting Center in Rockville, Maryland, will reveal the key findings from two soon-to-be-released research studies.

One program session will present the findings from a new PRIMIR study about "Packaging: Evaluation of Vertical Markets & Key Applications." Kevin Karstedt and Jeff Wettersten, principals at Karstedt Partners, LLC, primary consultants who conducted the research, will identify and discuss the primary vertical markets (retail, food, etc.) for the various packaging segments including folding cartons, corrugated, flexible packaging and labels.

According to Kevin Karstedt, "The $69.1 billion market for the four packaging segments we studied will grow to more than $80.4 billion by 2015. While the market provides significant opportunities for firms in the print value chain, most do not understand the complexities of the market, especially the differences between vertical markets, and the macro forces that drive brand owners' packaging decisions. The PRIMIR study reveals the nuances in package printing by vertical market and the implications."

Following the presentation, attendees will discuss the findings—specifically the opportunities, challenges and implications to their own firms as they serve the complex packaging markets.

Research results from another new PRIMIR study will also be featured as State Street Consultants reveals the findings from"Evaluating and Understanding Non-Print Revenues of N.A. Printing Companies." As added value, following the study presentation, several regional printers will discuss specific non-print revenue areas they are exploring and elaborate on successes and failures. Attendees will also participate in a 'member exchange' to examine the findings of the study and discuss how they might address the changes, challenges and opportunities identified in the report. Finally, attendees will tour nearby EU Services for a close-up look at how that firm expanded its business by adding non-print services.

Other sessions during the meeting will include a "State of the Printing Industry" review from Joseph Truncale, Ph.D., President & CEO of NAPL, and a "drupa 2012 Review" by Ralph Nappi, President of NPES.

PRIMIR 2012 Summer Meeting attendees will additionally participate in various task forces focused on research to be completed in 2012 and beyond.

PRIMIR hosts several meetings each year, providing a forum for members to network among their peers while learning the results of the latest research produced for PRIMIR. Members of PRIMIR and NPES, as well as prospective members, are welcome to attend the 2012 Summer Meeting. Business development managers, product managers, market research analysts and others who are tasked with following and formulating data and trends about the graphic communications and packaging/converting industries will find the essential information presented at PRIMIR meetings beneficial.
