February 16, 2004 -- In 2001, the Board of Directors of NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies created the Regis J. Delmontagne endowed scholarship fund with a contribution of $300,000 to the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation. Creation of the fund honored NPES President Regis J. Delmontagne on the occasion marking his 25-year anniversary as the Association’s chief executive. The purpose of the endowed scholarship is twofold: to encourage bright young people to plan for careers in the industry and to benefit the employees and children of NPES member companies. The first five scholarships using income from the NPES endowment will be awarded this spring. First consideration will be given to employees or children of employees of NPES members, enabling them to pursue studies in graphic communications and related fields. Additional consideration will be given to graduates of PrintED accredited programs. PrintED is a national accreditation program, based on industry standards, for graphic communications courses of study at the secondary and post-secondary levels administered by the Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation. To be eligible for these scholarships, a candidate shall be preparing for a career in graphic communications, planning to attend a school in the United States, with a major including, but not limited to, the study of print/graphic communications production, print/graphic communications management, business administration, chemistry, physics and engineering. Candidates must meet standard PGSF requirements: - Must be a high school senior, high school graduate or a college student who is enrolled in a two-or four-year college program. - Must be a full time student. - Must be able to maintain a 3.0 GPA Applications must be postmarked by March 1 for high school students and April 1 for college students.
