Komori to Unveil New Products at drupa 2012

Press release from the issuing company

At drupa 2012, Komori Corporation will demonstrate a variety of new solutions designed to improve pressroom efficiency, and help printers meet  the global demands of high quality, enhanced productivity and speedy job cycle times.  Under the banner ‘Komori OnDemand,’ the Komori stand, located in Hall 15 at the Dusseldorf Exhibition Center, will demonstrate nine different printing presses to show visitors how Komori solutions can impact their businesses and their bottom line.

“We believe, as others have also stated, that drupa 2012 will be a turning point in our industry,” says Kosh Miyao, President and COO of Komori America Corporation. “With the variety of equipment on display in the Komori stand, there is literally something to satisfy every need in the marketplace.”

OffsetOnDemand Solutions

Komori’s Offset OnDemand concept is based on maintaining high print quality and high productivity while providing a competitive edge with short print runs and quick turnaround work.   The combination of high-speed print startup that gets to color within 20 sheets through the KHS-AI integrated control system and the fast drying delivered by the award winning H-UV curing system, allows printed work to be immediately passed for post press processing as soon as printing is completed.  Komori will demonstrate Offset OnDemand with two H-UV equipped offset presses, an eight color Lithrone G40P perfector, and a five color Lithrone S29.  Completing the Offset on Demand theatre will be a POD digital press.  Through coordination of these two offset presses with Komori’s K-ColorSimulator color management system introduced at IGAS 2011, matching the offset printing sheet with the output of a POD digital system will be shown.

The Lithrone G40 will be equipped with Komori’s Asynchronous Automatic Plate changing system (A-APC) that changes all plates in only 75 seconds, and the Inline Print Quality Assessment System (PQA-S).  PQA-S not only inspects print quality on the front and back sides of the sheets simultaneously, but also enables in-line density control by scanning the color bar.

Komori’s H-UV technology and the PDC-SX  Spectral Print Density Controller, that measures densities and colors by automatically  detecting the color bar located anywhere vertically on the sheet, will also be demonstrated at drupa 2012.  PDC-SX also detects register errors through the use of a special mark and handles front/back register control.  The Komori Info-Services Display (KID), a large scale multi-information display system displays a host of information, including the operating status of the press will also be featured.

Package Printing Solutions

Demonstrations in the Packaging Printing theatre will be shown on a five color Lithrone G40 and the new Lithrone GX40 Carton press which makes its worldwide debut at drupa 2012.  The GX40, equipped with H-UV, is the ideal machine for package and specialty printing applications.  The 41” press comes equipped with Komori’s non-stop delivery, fully automatic plate changing, and can handle board substrates up to 40pt.  At drupa, the six color GLX will be shown with a two camera PQA-S inspection system.  The two camera system works in tandem on the same side of the sheet to enhance resolution and print quality accuracy, especially critical for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics packaging markets.

Efficient & Multi-Flexible Print Solutions

The Enthrone 29P, convertible perfector press will also make its global debut at drupa 2012.  The Enthrone 29 is well suited to a wide range of work, and its ergonomic design and small footprint make it the ideal press for printers entering into the offset market or as a companion machine to a larger offset press or a digital printing machine.  Available in configurations up to five units, the Enthrone 29P can handle a maximum sheet size of 20-7/8”x29-17/32” and has a maximum print speed of 13,000 sph.

Komori will also debut a new press geared toward the A1 market for customers in Asia, the Lithrone A37.

Digital OnDemand Solutions

Drupa 2012 marks Komori’s launch into the digital printing market.  In addition to the POD device that will be demonstrated in the Offset OnDemand theatre, Komori will exhibit two new prototype inkjet digital printing machines.  These new machines, a sheetfed and a webfed press, are prime examples of Komori’s commitment to the printing industry and to delivering kando to its customers.

Komori’s Commitment:  Specialty printing, environmental responsibility, service excellence

In addition to the live press demonstrations, the Komori stand will feature several stations where visitors can learn about a variety of other Komori products and services.  In the Web, Chambon and Security Printing area, video, samples and product displays will service as a backdrop to guide customer discussions on these three products.  In the Komori Assistance zone, customers can learn about Komori’s global service initiatives and about product upgrades and retrofits that can dramatically improve the performance and productivity of their current Komori presses.

The stand will also feature an area that will highlight Komori’s commitment to ecological initiatives and decreasing the carbon footprint of print.   At Komori, “green” symbolizes the co-existence of people, the environment and nature, which epitomize its corporate responsibility to help maintain balance between these three elements.  A print gallery will also be featured on the stand where a wide range of printing samples from around the globe will be displayed highlighting the variety of industries and products Komori presses support.

“We look forward to welcoming visitors from North America in the Komori stand and sharing our many new products with them.  It is a very exciting time for Komori and we look forward to a successful drupa,” concludes Miyao.
