Seattle Printer Installs Six-Color Komori Press

Press release from the issuing company

Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced that Consolidated Press in Seattle, WA has installed a six-color Komori Lithrone SX40 (LSX-640)  with its new H-UV curing system. The largest privately-held commercial printer in the region, Consolidated Press has been delivering high-quality print for a wide range of industries for more than 75 years. Owners Robert Brown and Gary Stone see the new press combined with the innovative H-UV technology as an opportunity for the company to expand its capabilities when it comes to special effects and coating techniques. Additionally, Consolidated Press will experience faster turnaround time due to the H-UV’s ability to deliver a bindery ready sheet for even more advantages in a fast-turn market.

“We immediately saw an opportunity to expand into higher value-added markets with this new equipment,” said Stone, CEO of Consolidated Press. “For example, with the publications we produce we’ll be able to add features to the covers of directories and booklets that will really excite the buyer through the capabilities delivered by the press coupled with the H-UV technology. We also considered the overall versatility of the H-UV system and found it to be more cost effective and easier to use than a traditional UV system. While the H-UV provides design and performance opportunities, we are just as excited to offer the state-of-the-art production technology inherent in the new six-color Komori Lithrone SX40. The ability to run full sheets 29 ½ x 41 ¼ at 18,000 impressions per hour opens many
options for us in an extremely price sensitive and time competitive market,” said Stone.

A recipient of Printing Industries of America’s 2011 InterTech Technology Award, Komori’s H-UV technology coupled with the six-color 41 inch printing capability make it possible for Consolidated Press to offer a greater range of value-added printing. The system delivers reliable, high-quality print with a fast makeready and excellent economic performance.

“Consolidated Press is known for providing exceptional customer service and has a well-earned reputation for producing a quality product,” said Jacki Hudmon, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Komori America. “We’re pleased to be partnering with Consolidated Press and provide the advanced technology needed to thrive in this competitive marketplace.”
