(Weymouth, MA) – InfoTrends' examines 28 application segments for digital production printing in seven print application groups, divided out by several hardware segments, in the newly released Western European Digital Production Printing Application Forecast: 2010-2015 comprehensive forecast.
Applications are the drivers of the demand for print and dictate which devices will be needed by print service providers over the coming years. As demand for specific applications change, due to reasons such as growth in usage, electronic replacement and moves to shorter runs, the demand for digital printing in competition with other processes will be greatly impacted.
"Overall print volumes are expected to increase by 2.8% until 2015, however, we found that some applications are expected to outgrow that average rate quite noticeably," commented Ralf Schlozer, Director of InfoTrends On Demand Printing & Publishing Consulting Service in Europe. "The application with the biggest gain in pages is books. Other applications, like newspapers, brochures, direct mail, and magazines, are also expected to record very high gains."
The mix of digital production printing applications produced in the future will differ from the ones produced today. There is a clear shift in the market away from some traditional applications in transaction and utility print towards promotional and publishing print as well as emerging segments which are showing rapid growth rates. Suppliers to the industry, and users of equipment, will need to adjust to changes in the marketplace.
