Remote Director Releases Remote Director 4.2 Soft Proofing Workflow

Press release from the issuing company

Optimized collaboration, content and color soft proofing in a clean web browser interface

Carlsbad, CA, – Remote Director, the leader in soft proofing solutions, announces the release of Remote Director 4.2. Earlier this year, Remote Director introduced a completely redesigned intuitive web browser interface to enable soft proofing for everyone involved in the creative process. With the release of the new Remote Director 4.2, online soft proofing has been taken to the next level. More reliable and faster handling of PDFs, faster monitor calibrations, image viewer enhancements, added process automation via hot folders and many more new features help to streamline the soft proofing workflow.

Optimized file handling and automation
With process automation, project creation can now be automated and files can be added to new or existing projects through the use of hot folders. Remote Director 4.2 adds an Adobe RIP for faster and more reliable handling of PDF and PostScript files, and an optional File Download feature was added for reviewers who need to download the original file that was used to create the soft proof.

Image viewer interface enhancements
Remote Director 4.2 adds the ability to hide or show thumbnails and toolbars to maximize the proofing area. Also, a new image navigation window appears when zoomed-in to provide navigation without the need to pan across the entire image. A new  "press operator" role has been added for Remote Director customers who want a simplified interface for use in the pressroom.

Enhanced Monitor calibration
Remote Director now learns about the monitor after its initial calibration, which reduces subsequent calibration times by more than 60 percent. Most calibrations can now be done in less than three minutes.

Remote Director 4.2 now also includes monitor calibration sensor support for Datacolor Spyder3.

Remote Director 4.2 is compatible with 64-bit Safari and Firefox and allows dual monitor support for Mac Snow Leopard users.

Availability
Remote Director 4.2 is available as of August 2011:
