Goss Introduces Alternative for Packaging Printing at PACK EXPO

Press release from the issuing company

In its first appearance at PACK EXPO (26-28 September, Las Vegas Convention Center, Nevada, USA), Goss International is introducing its web offset alternative for packaging printing. Exhibiting on Booth # 5479 in Hall S2 East, the company will showcase the innovative Sunday Vpak presses, which are available in web widths to 75 inches and feature quick-change sleeve technology.

"This is a dynamic time in the packaging printing sector, with new requirements for print quality, productivity and efficiency emerging," said Peter Walczak, product management director for Goss International. "PACK EXPO presents packaging producers with a great opportunity to learn what is possible today; to see the latest innovations in technology and applications first hand and to learn what may be possible tomorrow."

The innovative Sunday Vpak press models incorporate technology from industry leading Goss Sunday commercial web presses and have been designed specifically for folding carton, flexible packaging and label applications.

The first Sunday Vpak hybrid press is now in operation as part of a rigorous testing program at the Goss International R&D lab in Durham, NH. "We have had numerous customer demos in the lab, and we look forward to presenting samples at PACK EXPO of the products we have produced on a wide range of packaging substrates," Walczak notes.

Variable sleeve web offset technology is gaining momentum as a high-quality, cost-effective alternative to flexo, gravure, sheetfed offset and traditional cassette-style web offset for many packaging applications, according to Walczak. "By adapting proven Sunday press technologies to address the specialized requirements of this market, we have created exciting new possibilities for packaging producers to cut costs and achieve higher productivity and quality," he adds.

The new Goss Sunday Vpak press models are available in narrow and wide web widths from 20.5 inches (510 mm) to 75 inches (1905 mm) for flexible packaging, label and folding carton applications. They feature quick-change sleeve technology to allow variable repeat settings. The advanced inking, dampening, web tension and process control systems used in Sunday presses for high-quality commercial offset printing have also been incorporated, along with Goss automation and workflow technologies to reduce makeready requirements and waste.

Variable sleeve Sunday Vpak presses are available as complete production systems, including roll handling and converting components to meet various application requirements.

PACK EXPO focuses on the latest trends and innovations in packaging processing, and consistently attracts over 25,000 attendees from all markets, including the food and beverage, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.
