QuarkXPress 9 Scoops Two Macworld Awards 2011

Press release from the issuing company

LONDON, - Quark announced today the latest version of their flagship program, QuarkXPress 9, won two awards at the 2011 Macworld Awards UK in London. The desktop publishing software won the Best Creative Design Software of the Year 2011 and the Macworld Grand Prix – special recognition for the best award-winning product of the evening.

Now in its 16th year, the Macworld Awards UK recognizes the products and vendors that make a significant contribution throughout the year. All the winners are chosen by the Macworld editorial team and Macworld's army of enthusiastic readers. The complete round-up of nominations for the Best Creative Design Software awards included products such as Autodesk's Maya, Filter Forge 2.0, onOne's Perfect Photo Suite 5.5, and Adobe's InDesign CS5.5. Lined up for the Grand Prix were products including Apple's iPad, Microsoft Office for Mac 2011, and Skype 3.0.

Karen Haslam, Macworld editor said, "QuarkXPress 9 adds some innovative new features and some sophisticated tools that will benefit time-poor designers. We were particularly impressed by the way the new ePub export capability handles the challenge of converting traditional print to digital format."

Gavin Drake, vice president of marketing at Quark, said, "We're thrilled to win not one, but two Macworld Awards for QuarkXPress 9. The opinions of the Macworld editorial team and the magazine's readers are ones that we have huge respect for. QuarkXPress 9 launched into a very dynamic market with the fast paced change that digital publishing is driving – especially as a result of the iPad. Therefore, significant credit must go to the engineering and product management teams at Quark for their continued innovation to meet the evolving needs of our customers and establish a leadership position for digital publishing. I can't think of a more fitting way for Quark to celebrate 30 years of revolutionizing publishing."
