GPO's Pueblo Distribution Center renamed after Congressman Evans

Press release from the issuing company

Washington - The U.S. Government Printing Office's (GPO) Public Documents Distribution Center in Pueblo, Colorado has been renamed after former Congressman Frank Evans, who passed away in June 2010. Members of Congressman Evans' family joined nearly 100 guests at the renaming ceremony.  GPO's Assistant Public Printer of Operations Jim Bradley joined representatives of the Pueblo city council, the General Services Administration and other officials to unveil the "Congressman Frank Evans Government Printing Office Distribution Center."

"The work being carried out at this facility has not only been important to Pueblo, but to our country for the last 40 years," said Assistant Public Printer of Operations Jim Bradley.  "The renaming of the facility after a man who tirelessly worked for the citizens of this district is a lasting tribute to the legacy of Congressman Evans."

"The Evans family is thrilled by this great honor," said Frances Evans-Maytum, daughter of Congressman Frank Evans.  "My dad loved having the opportunity to serve the people of southern Colorado.  He was proud to bring the U.S. Government Printing Office's Distribution Center to his hometown of Pueblo."

As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Representative Evans led the effort to establish the Center, which opened its doors for business in 1971. Last year, President Barack Obama signed an act of the 111th Congress to rename the Center as the "Congressman Frank Evans Government Printing Office Distribution Center." The Center serves as the distributor for the publications of the Federal Citizen Information Center, a unit of the General Services Administration. Since its inception 40 years ago, the Center has processed and distributed more than 800 million publications.
