Xitron announces OEM agreement with ActiCameras

Press release from the issuing company

Xitron, the prepress industry's leading independent developer and integrator of Raster Image Processors, RIP management software and workflow solutions, today announced a new OEM agreement with ActiCameras, Inc. where Xitron has developed and will supply the Screenmaker Pro workflow for the Legend direct-to-screen system.

Screenmaker Pro is based on Xitron's powerful and robust Navigator GPS Harlequin RIP workflow which features:

- High performance Harlequin RIP core
- Direct-to-screen Legend DTS driver
- Ability to accept PDF and PostScript files
- Variable droplet 1- and 2-bit halftone screening
- Selectable resolutions of 360 dpi, 720 dpi and 1440 dpi
- Line screens up to 85 lpi
- User controllable job management and tracking capabilities
- Integrated on-screen soft-proofing
- Output device control at operator workstations

"Xitron is pleased that ActiCameras has selected us as their RIP and workflow partner," stated Mark Eisenschenk, Xitron's President and CEO. "The screen industry will benefit from Xitron's 30+ years of prepress experience with a RIP and workflow, which streamlines production by automating tasks such as halftone and separation generation."

"ActiCameras sought a partner who would provide not only a RIP but also a highly automated workflow solution for the Legend DTS systems," stated Larry DeBusk, President of ActiCameras. "Xitron's leadership position and expertise in the prepress industry allowed them to incorporate capabilities into the Screenmaker Pro RIP and workflow that is unheard of in today's market."

The Screenmaker Pro RIP and workflow includes Mac or PC client and support for one Legend DTS. Additional clients are available as well as the ability to support multiple Legend DTS systems from a single workflow.

The Screenmaker Pro workflow incorporates sophisticated on-screen soft-proofing tools that allow the user to see the final processed job. Included is the ability to select the substrate color and to define any color as an opaque, such as a white underbase, so jobs can be viewed accurately on colored substrates.
The integrated soft-proofing viewer is adjustable from 5%-800% magnification, allowing the user to inspect the file in a processed format. Jobs can be viewed as a composite or any combination of single or multiple separations.
The Screenmaker Pro RIP and workflow will be available exclusively through ActiCameras' Legend DTS dealers.

Xitron offers Navigator Harlequin RIP and Workflow solutions, including the Navigator Elite Harlequin, RIP workflow through its network of OEMs, distributors, dealers, and system integrators worldwide.
